It is the penultimate total eclipse of that series. It will begin in far eastern Russia, striking an arc across the Arctic, almost crossing over the North Pole, and ending the eclipse path over northern Portugal and Spain in the Mediterranean. The partial eclipse will be visible throughout Western Europe close to sunset. This eclipse will have powerful effects on the United States and the West in general. For more, read on\u2026<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">NASA will <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/live\">stream the eclipse live starting at 1:15 p.m. EDT<\/a><\/span> on Aug 12. The eclipse begins in far eastern Russia. For observers, Wikipedia <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Solar_eclipse_of_August_12,_2026\">has the following entry<\/a><\/span>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201cThe total eclipse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/where-to-see-total-solar-eclipse-2026-maps\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">will pass over northernmost Siberia<\/span>,<\/a> the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, northern Spain and the extreme northeastern part of Portugal. The points of greatest duration and greatest eclipse will be just 45 km (28 mi) off the western coast of Iceland by 65\u00b010.3&#8242; N and 25\u00b012.3&#8242; W, where the totality will last 2m 18.21s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The first part of the total eclipse path will, unusually, pass from east to west from Russia to Greenland, just avoiding the North Pole. A partial eclipse will cover more than 90% of the Sun in Ireland, Great Britain, Portugal, France, Italy, the Balkans and North Africa and to a lesser extent in most of Europe, West Africa and northern North America.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The total eclipse will pass over northern Spain from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean coast as well as the Balearic Islands. The total eclipse <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/as.com\/actualidad\/ciencia\/eclipse-solar-abril-2024-en-directo-mapa-trayectoria-y-horarios-del-eclipse-de-sol-en-vivo-n\/\">will be visible from the cities of A Coru\u00f1a, Valencia, Zaragoza, Palma and Bilbao<\/a><\/span>, but both Madrid and Barcelona will be just outside the path of totality.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">For the few brave souls who live in the area of Russia where the total eclipse starts they may be able to see the stars and meteor showers. The rest of us will not be so lucky. And it would be par for the course for me that it will be cloudy that day. But luck and the weather may prevail. Fingers crossed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The last solar eclipse that was visible in Europe was on 29 Mar 2006, visible in the Caucasus region. The subsequent Mars activation of that eclipse saw a coup in Malaysia that overthrew Shinawatra, as well as Typhoon Xangsane that caused 300 deaths in the Philippines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">There will be another total solar eclipse that will pass over Spain and in fact across the entire Mediterranean Sea on 2 Aug next year. It will not activate this eclipse. That one has been nicknamed already as \u2018the Eclipse of the Century\u2019. It will pass directly over the Strait of Gibraltar, skirt across North Africa, barely miss Port Said, then pass over Western Yemen (where Ansarallah is based), then the tip of the Horn of Africa and ending over islands in the British Indian Ocean Territory. That will be a very powerful eclipse and will fall on Donald Trump\u2019s Pluto, activating his Mars\/Saturn midpoint (\u2018death axis\u2019). This is a south node eclipse with the Sun as the Lord of the eclipse. South node eclipses tend to bring up issues from the past or issues that keep us from moving forward. There is a wide conjunction between the eclipse point and Jupiter. There is also a wide conjunction between Mercury and Jupiter, all of which are in Leo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The Sabian symbol for the eclipse point is as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Intoxicated chickens dizzily flap their wings trying to fly. 21\u00b0 Leo<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">With the eclipse being in Leo, why would the chickens be intoxicated? This eclipse will especially affect the United States and Europe. Is the intoxication due to past power, misreading of the tea leaves, lack of proper intelligence\u2026who knows? But the symbol certainly seems to fit with some of our present leadership. Eurasian powers, on the other hand have set a steady course and do not appear to be too much in a hurry to push matters (\u2018to fly\u2019). But before we draw too many conclusions we need to look at the rest of the chart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">This eclipse comes just after the peak of the Lion\u2019s Gate Portal on 8 August. There is quite a bit of woo being made about this on the internet. The \u2018portal\u2019 itself stretches from 28 July to 12 Aug. Hence, this eclipse represents the closing of the Lion\u2019s Gate. Just to be clear, though, the Sun and Sirius do not align on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> of August. They are conjunct in Cancer by zodiacal longitude on the 6<sup>th<\/sup> of July, due to the precession of the equinoxes. And to add another bit, the midpoint of the quarter is on the 7<sup>th<\/sup> of August, which itself is a powerful point for eclipses, as are all the fixed signs at their 15<sup>th<\/sup> degree. But we digress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The eclipse point forms no major aspects to planets in the chart. It forms a semisquare with Venus and a sesquisquare with Neptune. These points will become highlighted shortly. But the fact that no major aspects are formed by the eclipse point suggests that it is not solidly integrated into the rest of the chart. It somewhat stands alone. That is important, considering the remainder of the chart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The biggest standout from the chart is a Grand Trine composed of Uranus, Pluto and Venus. It is a combination that indicates deep research, \u2018out with the old, in with the new\u2019 and integrating that dynamic into one\u2019s psyche. The Grand Trine is also bounded by four sextiles, forming a sort of alternative to Barbault\u2019s Basket. The sextiles run from Pluto to Neptune to Uranus, then from Uranus to Mercury to Venus. Thus, we almost have a Grand Sextile in the chart. The most important part of that would be the missing node of the Grand Sextile at around the 6<sup>th<\/sup> degree of Sagittarius. The Sabian symbols for that missing degree could be any of the following, and all of them would be valid within certain contexts:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A little child learning to walk with the encouragement of his parents 4\u00b0 Sagittarius<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">An old owl sits alone on the branch of a large tree. 5\u00b0 Sagittarius<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">A game of cricket 6\u00b0 Sagittarius<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The symbol for the 4<sup>th<\/sup> degree of Sagittarius fits more closely with the Sabian symbol for the eclipse degree. We will come back to that missing point, because missing pieces can be as important, if not more so than the pieces to the puzzle that are present. It represents an unresolved factor toward which we must strive in order to fulfill the promise represented by the Grand Sextile, as well as the Grand Trine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Speaking of Grand Trines, they are most effective when they have squares and\/or oppositions to the trine points. Grand Trines by themselves tend toward lassitude and relaxed effort if they are not used constructively. By themselves they do not give the \u2018push\u2019 needed for success. When there are squares or oppositions to points in the Grand Trine they give the tension that is needed to unlock the potential represented there. In this case we have two oppositions in the figure. The first opposition is between Venus and Neptune, which as we will see is the most important release point. The other is between Mercury and Pluto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Hard Venus\/Neptune combinations, as is the case here point to problematic relationship dynamics. If the dynamics are not properly addressed and resolved the results can range from difficult realization of ideals and wishes (\u2018intoxicated chickens\u2019 again), disappointment and disillusionment, wrong ideas within relationships, mistaken love, and even just the exhibition of bad taste. Venus expresses one\u2019s aesthetic sense. Donald Trump, for instance has Venus conjunct Saturn, with both being quintile to Neptune. You can draw your own conclusions there. Other famous people and nations with Venus\/Neptune combinations are\/were Jane Fonda, Billy Graham, Madonna, Germaine Greer, the UK, South Korea and Israel, just to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Esoterically we come to the point, though: Hard Venus\/Neptune aspects point to the need or challenge to integrate some factor of the personality more in line with our soul path. And that brings us to the gist of what this eclipse holds for us. It is a call to withdraw from outer life for a time, or periodically and to look within as to what may be hindering the fuller expression of our soul and further, as to what we need to integrate into our lives to further that expression. In doing so, we release the potential energy stored in the Grand Trine. The eclipse point, being in minor hard aspects to Venus and Neptune, stimulate us to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">There are enough posts on the internet about this eclipse and period that state \u201cThis eclipse gives us a powerful opportunity to manifest our desires,\u201d or words to that effect. The astrological indications are for the opposite course of action. Otherwise one might appear as the drunken chicken in the Sabian symbol for the lunation. There is more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Mars will still be out-of-bounds (OOB) at the time of the eclipse. It was at its maximum OOB on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> close to midnight UTC with the Moon in attendance at its maximum OOB extent. Emotions have been running high, to say the least. We saw the M7.4 earthquake in Colombia on the 10<sup>th<\/sup> which caused widespread destruction and upwards of 100 deaths so far. There have also been some horrific acts of violence that have taken place since Mars went OOB on the 5<sup>th<\/sup> of this month. I won\u2019t source them here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Mars OOB most often indicates sharp increases in violent acts. Mars OOB can be seen a \u2018Mars unconstrained\u2019. Mars goes back in-bounds on the 27<sup>th<\/sup> at the full moon, which is also an eclipse, covered in a separate post. This eclipse is one of the four moon wobbles of this year, meaning tensions will be running elevated for the eclipse period \u2013 from the 8<sup>th<\/sup> through to the end of this month. The next eclipse is also a moon wobble.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Looking at the chart, there is another factor associated with the Venus\/Neptune opposition. We see Mars and Ceres conjunct at the zero Cancer point, which is a World View point. This is effectively the apex of a t-square with the Venus\/Neptune opposition. Some astrologers would not count it because of the orb involved, but considering this is on a World View point we will count it here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The Mars\/Ceres conjunction, with Mars out-of-bounds has a particular significance when it comes to a mundane chart. Ceres represents logistics and supply on the one hand and a crossroads or turning point on the other hand, from the mythology of Ceres. The Cancer World View point leans toward security matters. What is very likely indicated with this conjunction at that point is a military inflexion event related to logistics. This will affect the wars against Iran and Russia. Russia is routinely destroying the supply chains in Ukraine, meaning Ukraine\u2019s logistics. And Iran is in a war of attrition with the US, having severely depleted the Western air defense systems and standoff weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The middle of this month was said to mark a situation where the strategic petroleum reserves in the US were at a critical level. Iran has figured out the way Trump has been keeping oil prices low and how he has been manipulating the markets and is now proactively counteracting the cycle of \u201cthreat, market shorts, \u2018a deal is about to happen\u2019, the markets relax,\u201d rinse and repeat. In short, the Iranians are calling a halt to the profiteering off this crisis by Trump, his cronies and Big Oil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">What we see now is that every time Trump announces they are close to a deal with Iran, the Iranians will strike a ship in the Persian Gulf or some other infrastructure that makes the markets slump once again, thus taking away his insider trading profits. Oil prices are rising again. As it is, then, Iran is running the clock on the US, so-to-speak.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Then to finish off the oppositions in the chart, mention was made of the Mercury\/Pluto opposition. This particular combination often indicates actions such as hasty thinking and speaking, premature action or hastiness, the spirit of opposition, irritability, impatience and over-estimation of self. The needed discipline here to release the potential of the Grand Trine is self-reflection, honest self-analysis, holding one\u2019s thoughts and tongue, patience and dialogue. These are all actions which appear to be in short supply by some leaders at present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">To finish this chart analysis, we come back to the missing points in what would be a third opposition in the Grand Trine. The missing qualities, depending on which degree upon which one focuses would be wisdom born of experience (the owl), the patience needed to learn a new skill (the child learning to walk) or learning what isn\u2019t cricket \u2013 i.e., what is not fair, is against one\u2019s moral standards or is dishonest. There is plenty of that going around these days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The activations of this eclipse will come every year by the Sun for the next few years on 9 Feb and 12 Aug. It will be activated by another eclipse on 7 Feb 2027 (a solar annular eclipse). This year the eclipse will be activated for a period of about a month starting mid-September, with the median date on 3 Oct by Jupiter. Of especial interest to Americans, the first Mars activation of this eclipse comes on Election Day for the midterms, on 3 November. The activation will start about a week before that date. The median date for that activation is on the 4<sup>th<\/sup> of November. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2026_United_States_elections\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Consider the following<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">\u201c\u2026all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress. 39 state and territorial U.S. gubernatorial elections, attorney general elections, and numerous state and local elections, will also be contested.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Mars will be conjunct Jupiter on the south node on that day. Projections are for an upset or shock. We will probably see such on both sides of the political aisle, as is often the case. But as to which side fares better, it looks worse for Republicans and Trump than it does for Democrats. And that is from the astrology of the two parties and Trump, notwithstanding transiting Jupiter and Mars approaching his Ascendant on the day. His solar arcs and progressions tell a different story from the transits. It is too much to address here, but we will have another look closer to that date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Looking further ahead, the eclipse receives reactivations from Mars and Jupiter in their respective retrograde phases. Mars makes its direct station on the eclipse point on 1 April next year. Jupiter makes its exact retrograde pass over the eclipse point on 26 Feb next year. It makes its Hail Mary pass on 29 May next year, meaning essentially this eclipse will be an active eclipse via Jupiter from mid-February to mid-June next year. As to whether or not that means a good time will be had by all\u2026well, we will have to wait and see. With the world situation changing as rapidly as it is it is best to wait a bit before making further comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Next we have the culmination lines, which are shown below (<a href=\"http:\/\/malvinartley.com\/PDF%20Files\/charts\/12aug26_eclipse_culmination.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">bigger<\/span><\/a>):<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1524\" height=\"741\" class=\"wp-image-2938\" src=\"https:\/\/malvinartley.com\/blog.malvinartley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/word-image-2935-3.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/malvinartley.com\/blog.malvinartley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/word-image-2935-3.png 1524w, https:\/\/malvinartley.com\/blog.malvinartley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/word-image-2935-3-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/malvinartley.com\/blog.malvinartley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/word-image-2935-3-1024x498.png 1024w, https:\/\/malvinartley.com\/blog.malvinartley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/word-image-2935-3-768x373.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Going back to the Venus\/Neptune opposition in the chart it is worth noting that combination in hard aspect is not good for finances. Beware of treacherous and unreliable friends, meaning the Europeans have to be careful about the machinations of Washington as Washington and Wall Street struggle to prop up the US dollar. <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/markets\/currencies\/articles\/us-sold-euros-save-yen-033819315.html\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">They just bailed out Japan with Euros<\/span><\/a> without consulting the ECB. Fancy that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unz.com\/mwhitney\/could-the-crashing-yen-trigger-hyperinflation-in-the-u-s\/\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">The Japanese bond market is the canary in the coal mine<\/span><\/a> when it comes to a looming financial crash. The bond market at this point is scarier than the petrodollar to the Western financiers. The Neptune culmination line runs through Japan, Indonesia and Central Australia. <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/markets\/stocks\/articles\/stock-market-sending-chilling-warning-115000649.html\">The markets are blowing bubbles<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Along with the Neptune culmination line, the Saturn line runs through far eastern Russia (where the eclipse begins), the east coast of Japan, Papua New Guinea and eastern Australia. <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/flinders-university-finding-solutions\/2025\/oct\/01\/flinders-university-wicked-problems-report\">Australians rank the cost of living as their major concern<\/a><\/span>. <a href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/news\/albanese-in-hot-water-over-insulting-melon-comments-about-japanese-prime-minister-c-22700706\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Albo will have to pay increasingly more for his melons<\/span><\/a>. My recent trip to Australia showed me just how much the cost of living had risen since I left 14 years ago. The Japanese are facing the same problem. More pointedly, all the nations along that Saturn line are facing economic hardship due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The main culmination lines \u2013 the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Ceres and Jupiter \u2013 all run through the United States. The eclipse line covers the eastern half of the US, meaning Washington and New York as the primary centers of power.
