The total lunar eclipse of 3 March 2026

There will be a total lunar eclipse on 3 March this year, the accompanying eclipse to that of the 17th of February. It is also the full moon. This eclipse comes at a time of high geopolitical tensions, especially in West Asia. The dynamics of the eclipse are very similar to those of the 17th of February eclipse. But there is a more pointed reason to look at this eclipse, pairing it with the previous one. For more, read on …

As a total lunar eclipse, this will be what is called a blood moon eclipse. For the more equatorial islands in the Pacific it will be viewed as such. For most people on the Pacific Rim this eclipse will be only partial. It will be the 27th of 71 eclipses in the lunar Saros 133 series. It will also be the 7th of the total eclipses in the series. This is thus a waxing series.

The maximum eclipse occurs over the Pacific. The penumbral eclipse starts at 08:44 UTC, with the final penumbra at 14:23. As stated above, it will be a blood moon over the Pacific. Otherwise it should be significantly darkened for viewers in East Asia, Australia, North America, and Central America. It will arise in Australia and the Far East and set in the far west of the Americas. The penumbral eclipse will last for nearly 3½ hours. Hawaiians, on the other hand, should get a decent view of the blood moon. Europe and Africa will completely miss out, because it will be midday at those longitudes.

The maximum eclipse occurs at 11:38 UTC on the 3rd of March. The chart for the eclipse is below (bigger):

This is a south node eclipse with Mercury as the lord of the eclipse. There are no planets conjunct the Moon, but the Moon is in Virgo, making Mercury the lord. Mercury is in its retrograde phase conjunct the Sun in Pisces, signalling miscalculations, problems with communications, issues with tech and ‘interesting’ events with transport.

Once again, as in the previous eclipse we have a stellium with the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Neptune all within just over 30 degrees of arc. The Saturn/Neptune conjunction is separating at this point, almost past the one degree of orb that is normally allowed for Neptune. It is no longer on the Aries worldview point. Our world view has changed significantly since the partile conjunction at the 0° Aries, with revelations from the Epstein files and statements issued by Western leaders. That will be covered in the upcoming Pisces letter.

Most of the stellium just mentioned, with the Sun, Mercury, Venus, the north node and Mars are all within Pisces. The eclipse axis itself forms an easy opposition with Jupiter, to which the Sun is trine. This eclipse, like the previous one will be a powerful eclipse. Of particular note is the partile square between Mars and Sedna, which we will explain in a bit. Mars will have just passed its square with Uranus, exact on 27 Feb, which highlights the extreme tensions within the world geopolitical scene over the past weeks.

Saturn is approaching its sextile with Pluto, which portends the formation of new security structures. Those will come after the events these eclipses will highlight.

There are some significant midpoints in this chart as follows:

    • Saturn=Mars/Pluto: leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of a particular task, the desire to overcome difficulties and obstacles at all cost forcibly.
    • Saturn=Uranus/Pluto: One-sidedness, self-will, egoism, stubbornness, hatred. – Exposure to extremely great pressure by others, separation caused through force majeure.
    • Neptune=Mars/Pluto: Irreconcilableness or implacability, cunning and deceitfulness, the tendency to cause harm to others secretly and unobtrusively, (a disaster or catastrophe caused by water).
    • Neptune=Uranus/Pluto: A sympathetic understanding of other people…- Insecurity and uncertainty, unfulfilled wishes, fatigue, nervous diseases (neuroses).

The culmination lines for the eclipse are shown below (bigger):

The lines above are almost the same as what we saw for the 17th of February eclipse. The one exception is the Moon culmination line which runs through the Bering Strait and close to the Hawaiian Islands. That is also the longitude where the maximum eclipse will be seen. Also within orb of that line is New Zealand.

In the last eclipse we saw the Mars culmination line running through the UK. On the 21st of February a missile was launched from Ukraine using MI6 guidance that struck in the heartland of Russian strategic industry, damaging a workshop where Russian ballistic missiles are manufactured. Mars culmination lines indicate military actions and provocations. This missile strike was a serious escalation and will change the dynamics from here on in the Russian Special Military Operation. With the present eclipse the Mars line also touches France, with reports now that the UK and France are planning on giving Ukraine nuclear weapons. It is a very, very stupid idea.

Even though the Saturn and Neptune culmination lines are slowly separating, they still run through far western Russia, Ukraine, Central Europe, the Bosporus Strait, Egypt and down eastern Central Africa, passing finally through South Africa. These lines showed significant effects from the last eclipse. And there was a small financial reset to come from it, with Trump’s tariffs being ruled illegal by the SCOTUS. Larger ones are being pursued as well internationally.

At the last eclipse these lines from Saturn and Neptune passed through Israel directly. Just after that eclipse Tucker Carlson gave an interview with Mike Huckabee, the US ambassador to Israel – an interview which caused a firestorm in all the states neighbouring Israel. This happened on the very day of the exact conjunction of Saturn and Neptune.

Huckabee gave away the ultimate plans the US and Israel have for the region, which is to balkanize the region and enable Israeli hegemony over the entire Middle East. It was an extreme diplomatic blunder, which in past administrations would have immediately seen the ambassador fired, with the administration scrambling for damage control. Instead, the Trump administration has done nothing, except to try to put out the fire.

Saturn/Neptune combinations are often seen in periods of weakness, and which can signify the slow onset of disease in individuals by direction. There is a direction of Saturn square to the US natal Neptune at this moment.

Mention was made above of the Mars/Sedna square. Sedna rarely figures in the charts of individuals, except to indicate where major trials might take place, trials that have the capacity to release creative potential. From the discovery post on Sedna we have the following:

“In her mythology we find the implication of one wanting to cling to the past, marked by the boat [amidst a severe storm], piloted by her father, to which she clings. But safety is not in the cards. There is a storm all around her, and she is cast off from her past, and by and because of her past. She must then either sink to the bottom or find a creative way out. From the pain of being cut loose, her creativity springs. Life emerges from the painful experience. The comfort of the past is suddenly wiped away, to be replaced by…Well, it varies according to the individual.”

Her father in the mythology wasn’t much of a dad, forcing Sedna to marry a dog when she didn’t want to marry at all, then drowning the dog after feeling sorry for her (Nice one, dad). Later he threw her out of his boat to save himself during a storm which was caused by her 2nd husband when dear old dad tried to rescue her, cutting off her fingers in the process. No Father’s Day celebrations for that dude. But hey, it was a tragic myth, right? – as myths often are. Well, the weather is stormy again these days, and “Daddy” may be about to throw his ‘children’ under the bus. We’ll leave the cryptic reference to your imagination.

In an event chart such as this, the partile square of Mars to Sedna can indicate a collective catharsis triggered by a storm, either literal, military or figuratively. Sedna works primarily at a deeply collective emotional level, largely subconsciously. We note in the mythology that her 2nd marriage was to a bird disguised as a man (she married an illusion), only to discover that the man she believed to be her husband was actually a fulmar (large sea bird resembling a seagull) and when she tried to leave, the fulmar whipped up the huge storm that brought her undone. We won’t go into all the symbolism here.

We can draw many parallels from the Sedna myth in human life about relationships, though we should be careful about attaching genders to the story. The myth is more about the desires all of us have in life, the realities into which we are often forced, the choices we make based in our illusions rather than realties and then the cathartic storms that often result when those illusions are broken. That brings us to the point about that Mars/Sedna square in this eclipse chart:

Certain illusions under which we have lived for years will be broken as a result of events highlighted by this eclipse, resulting in firestorms of release, thereby possibly releasing creative potential we have kept submerged for years.

Mars accompanies this eclipse, which it will activate fully for the first time on the 18th of March, ushering in the next quarter. It is within the 15° of orb many astrologers use for conjunctions with the Sun. Thus, the effects of Mars will be felt at the eclipse itself and then intensify up to the 18th. It will signal the end of an era, as well as the end of the astrological year of 2025 in the Western system of astrology. The astrological year in our Western astrology begins and ends at the Aries equinox each year. The 18th will also be the new moon of Pisces in the Americas.

Taking all the preceding together, what might we expect to see from this eclipse? We will see it in terms of a process, as follows: One or more major events will produce a public outcry, followed corrective measures, followed thereafter by the realization of significant opportunities for expansion and growth once the dust settles from the event(s).

As to what the events just mentioned might resemble, we see those in the midpoints listed above, highlighted in the bolded text. A little explanation is in order, given that the bolded text is anything other than ‘happy’ or ‘expansive’. We refer here to the situation in West Asia, which at present appears to be irreconcilable by diplomatic means. This will be more fully explained the Pisces letter. But the situation in a nutshell is thus:

Donald Trump, under pressure from his donor class, the military-industrial complex, and the Zionist lobby has placed the US in a zugzwang – a term from chess meaning an unwinnable situation. In modern slang, he has put himself and thus the nation between a rock and a hard place. And Mike Huckabee just gave us the reason why. The Israeli hardliners, meaning the political Zionist class, have visions of being the ruling hegemon in the region. Iran is the only nation standing in the way of that.

Bibi Netanyahu is up for re-election in October. If he can pull off a victory over Iran – which means the US has to fight and win a war against Iran – then he is assured victory in October. If the plan fails, he faces jail. Trump has been cajoled into moving the most massive show of military force into the region of West Asia since the Iraq War in an effort to force the Iranians into capitulation. The only problem is, the Iranians are ready for anything the US and Israel can dole out militarily and they aren’t budging. They also have Russia and China backing them in a strategic partnership.

Americans reading this will have been told such a war would be over quickly, that the Iranians are at their weakest, that the populace wants to be freed of the ‘mullahs’ and that the overwhelming firepower of the US military guarantees a quick toppling of ‘the regime’ in Tehran. Freedom will return to the long-suffering Iranian people! And the military-industrial complex is all-in, along with the likes of ‘Madam’ (Lindsey) Graham and his ilk. Such is the illusion Americans are told to accept. The truth is starkly different.

The Iranians have been preparing for this moment for 47 years, if not 5,000. Responding to Trump’s queries as to why Iran doesn’t just roll over and accept American terms the Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi responded, “Curious to know why we don’t surrender? Because we’re Iranians!”

Trump doesn’t want war, though. He would rather make a deal with the Iranians, declare victory, and back out. His family has extensive business ties throughout the Persian Gulf region and if/when war breaks out those business ties could go the way of shifting desert sands. The Gulf monarchies would be upended in such a war, in all likelihood, along with all the Trump family business deals.

The smart and wise thing for Trump to do is to bring the forces home and leave the Israelis to commit their collective suicide by attacking Iran. Trump could spin a victory by telling the American people it was the better part of wisdom. Only 20% of Americans are in favour of a war with Iran anyway. He could make the appearance of a deal with Iran on their nuclear program and walk away from what would be a disastrous war for the US, claiming to again be the peace president. In that case he would be. It would also show the American people who is really calling the shots.

Then there are the Israelis, who are salivating at the thought of the US doing their dirty work on Iran. And the truth is, the time for doing so is now or never. Whether Trump is able to wrangle a deal with the Iranians or not is irrelevant to the Israelis. They will attack Iran regardless, and in the process draw the US into a very destructive and pointless war – which they are very likely to lose. And the latter point has been made clear to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington time and again for years in gaming a war with Iran. JD Vance and Tulsi Gabbard are the only two voices in the administration who are against going to war with Iran, likely because they know the truth of what would happen.

Then there is the Epstein threat, which is bearing down on the elite class across the West, with fresh revelations and scalps being collected daily, especially in Europe. Distraction from that is needed quickly, Donald. Get on with it! Or pressure to that effect. There are various threats toward Trump about certain pictures that would be rather unwelcome to him, whether or not he orders the attack on Iran.

Thus we have the situation in West Asia in a nutshell. Not to belabor the point, but what has just been described is the single biggest immediate crisis facing the world at this point in time. If there is war it will produce a cascading effect across the board – political, economic, social, international relations, etc. And reports are the so-called Gang of Eight (senior members of the US Congress) have been briefed on Iran, with Chuck Schumer stating the President has to make the case to the American people, that the matter is serious. Pray and meditate, as is your preference, that war can be avoided.

Since we have looked at the US in this post we cannot leave it without mentioning the Sabian symbols for the eclipse axis. For the Moon, we have:

    • A powerful statesman overcomes a state of political hysteria 13° Virgo

And for the Sun:

    • An ancient sword, used in many battles, is displayed in a museum 13° Pisces

We will leave these symbols for your consideration, as they will mean different concepts for people, according to one’s inclination. But they are quite salient for our present situation. The ‘powerful statesman’ does not necessarily point to Donald Trump. Such a person could step in from any nation – unexpectedly, even. There are many people who question if Trump is even a statesman anyway, for example, or is instead just a salesman. And the ‘ancient sword’ can refer to legacy military hardware, some of which may indeed be relegated to museum curiosities if war does break out. As stated, these symbols can be interpreted in multiple ways.

The eclipse, as a final point, falls on the US Sedna – on a degree that can indicate the flow of inspiration that can come from moments of quiet reflection (16° Pisces). Our leadership should take the time to quietly reflect of the nation’s direction forward instead of feeling pushed to go to war.

For us as individuals the ‘powerful statesman’ of the Sabian symbol is our own higher Self. And we should set aside any antagonisms we might have over the next weeks and seek inspiration from events as they unfold. Even in the darkest of moments there is always light and opportunity for a better path forward.

In closing, if you are in the Pacific on the night of the 3rd of next month, enjoy the eclipse. It should be a rich, red moon. May peace prevail on Earth.
