Since the proroguing of the Parliament on the 28th of August and the public outcry resulting, politics in the UK have been more than a little interesting. As the solar arc of Pluto to the UK Ascendant comes to exactitude at the Libra solar ingress (equinox) this week, there are also other factors being activated. Since that direction came within orb a year ago, it has also activated certain midpoints, resulting in the nation, “…coming under the spell or influence of another person. – Exciting or upsetting experiences shared together with other people,” for example. We will look at those factors here, as it makes for a good study of transits, directions, midpoints and national charts in general.
One of the more important manifestations of the process the UK is now undergoing has been the unveiling of the true motivations and machinations in secret that have been behind the Brexit vote and what had followed thereupon. Mercury rules the secretive motives of the nation in the UK chart, ruling the UK 12th house, and Neptune came within orb of its square to Mercury in mid-March this year, just before the original Brexit date. We all know what happened then. The government had some of its most spectacular defeats in Parliament in that period, with the end result being that Theresa May had to step down. At that point transiting Saturn and Pluto formed a midpoint with the UK Moon, representing the sitting government, and showing the defeat.
It would be helpful to look at what has happened since then with key dates and transits, and then look at what has been revealed and where all this may be going:
- 28 Aug: Boris asks the Queen to prorogue Parliament: transiting Saturn was retrograde, quincunx the directed UK Sun (ruling Parliament), transiting Neptune was approaching exact square to Mercury, ruling the 9th house (legal matters and the courts) and the 12th house (sabotage, self-undoing, institutions)
- 3 Sep: Parliament meets after recess, government suffers first defeat, 21 Tories cross the floor and are ejected from the Party. The government loses its majority: Sun/Mercury/Mars transit within a degree trine the UK Sun, separating from the sextile/trine to the Meridian axis. The Sun rules the 11th house (Parliament), and the trine empowered that body. Parliament took back control of proceedings with a vote of 328 to 301.
A point of interest here is that transiting Saturn during this period formed a midpoint with the UK Sun and Moon axis, which was just after a full moon at the founding of the UK, thus highlighting the division between the government (Moon) and the Parliament (Sun). This indicated the difficulties between the two institutions in the UK, and had been in effect since 6 August. The exact midpoint is at 14°48’ of cardinal signs, and Saturn was exact on it on 16 Aug. Two days later 100 MPs wrote a letter to Johnson urging him to reconvene Parliament. Boris was instated as PM on 24 July. On that date transiting Neptune was transiting retrograde trine the UK Moon, giving the government their supposed dream candidate for pushing through Brexit. Saturn will leave the Sun/Moon midpoint essentially on the 31st of October, the supposed ‘leave’ date. Saturn makes its direct station on Sep 19.
- 4 Sep: Government suffers second defeat with a vote of 329 to 300 to block the possibility of the UK leaving the EU without a deal: Transiting Saturn was exactly square the UK nodal axis (‘at the bendings’) from the 4th Breaks and strains in relationships.
- 5 Sep: Boris Johnson’s brother quits the Tories and as a minister citing he was”torn between family and national interest”. Saturn with the nodes can also represent breaks in family relations. It was reported that Boris took it hard.
- 6 Sep: The bill preventing a no-deal is passed by the House of Lords. The House of Lords is also represented by the Sun (11th house)
- 9 Sep: Jon Bercow, Speaker of the House, announces his resignation effective on 31 Oct, citing family reasons. The Benn bill is passed into law by Royal assent, preventing a no-deal Brexit. Johnson has said he would defy the law. John Bercow has vowed he will force Boris to obey the law. The transiting Moon was passing over the Saturn/Pluto transits opposite the UK Moon.
- 10 Sep: Parliament is prorogued.
- 11 Sep: The Scottish High Court rules the proroguing was illegal. The British High Court will hear the case the following week (Sep 16 – 20). Jupiter approaches within a degree and a half of the UK Mercury, the latter ruling the 9th (judiciary) and 12th (institutions) houses. It will be exact on the 26th of September.
- 12 Sep: Government must surrender the Yellowhammer papers: Transiting Mars w/in orb of square to UK Mercury, opposite transiting Neptune, inflaming the rhetoric on all sides but also further empowering the Judiciary. Mars opposite or square Neptune gives the power to move hearts and minds, especially in religious, judiciary or religious leaders.
From the preceding the following factors are the most important:
- The transit of Saturn to the UK Sun/Moon midpoint, setting the Parliament against the government, as well as leaders against the people in general.
- Saturn transit to the bending of the UK nodes, marking breaks and strains in relationships.
- Transiting Neptune square the UK Mercury, the latter ruling the courts and the nation’s institutions as well as hidden sabotage. This transit shows the attempt to sabotage parliamentary debate, Johnson’s alleged lying to the Queen about the proroguing, the ‘gray areas’ in British law and so forth. It will eventually lead to greater clarity in relation ot the preceding.
There is another matter that came to light on Sep 9th, when transiting Mars was conjunct the 12th house cusp and the Sun had just entered the 12th house, squaring the UK Mercury. Lord James of Blackheath, during a meeting of the House of Lords when they were discussing the Benn bill, stood up and called out the secrecy surrounding British involvement in a union – a pan-European defense force, which would be headed by either France or Germany, the two nuclear powers in the EU, and which would place British forces and defense infrastructure under command of a central EU body, or so the story goes. Its stated purpose would be for military interventions in Africa, where the US, China and Russia are currently active.
The British public knows nothing about this defense pact. It was apparently made a component of Theresa May’s Brexit deal, the one that was voted down three times. Lord James was cut short in his address to the House and essentially threatened if he continued. That subsuming of British defense forces is apparently desired by many in the British establishment. After he made his statements that evening, Lord James was approached in the lobby afterward:
“In the lobby following the Lords’ session, Lord James was approached by former Defence Secretary and NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson, who, incandescent with rage, demanded to know Lord James’ sources for the statements he made in the House.”
The entire statements can be read in transcript. All he was calling for was openness and debate, and for the public to be made aware. He is for a no-deal Brexit not that it matters, but his stance is one of retaining control of British sovereignty over its defense forces. The Twitter-sphere has been lit up with comment since. It is mentioned here because it fits with the astrological timeline, the Brexit bills and government secrecy, involving governments going back years. Since his statements, Lord James has been requested to resign and has been told he may receive a visit from the police for breach of state secrets. That in itself is quite telling. What are the authorities seeking to hide?
Continuing with the key dates, the next question is, will the High Court rule that proroguing the Parliament was illegal? It is highly likely, given the transits to Boris’ chart and to that of his administration (transiting Mars square his Mercury and transiting Moon square the administration Sun) but it depends on what comes out into the public domain. They are set to begin reading the case on the 17th.
There is an example of what Mars transits to Mercury can bring with news just out regarding statements Boris has made: gaffes. He has compared the himself to the Incredible Hulk, the cartoon character, saying that, “The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets,” and that he would break Britain free of the shackles of the EU. The EU is in dismay, especially since the remarks came just a day before he was to go to the EU for talks about yet another Brexit deal. All that his remarks have done is to heap scorn and ridicule upon himself and to make negotiations with the EU that much harder. Perhaps the latter was his purpose with the remarks. Or perhaps it is a reflection of the natal Mars/Saturn square in his chart, which generally makes a person arrogantly certain of their own luck and infallibility. It is an aspect that gives an insidious form of bad judgement. The Trump administration has this in their chart.
There will be surprises the week the Court hears the case, with Mercury and Venus transiting conjunct the UK Uranus, showing a high idealism being present in all affairs, as well as the human element being strongly activated. Jupiter will be within a degree orb of the UK Mercury. That further highlights judicial matters and respect for UK institutions.
But what do we see with Boris? He has not had a good innings since the 3rd of September. This brings in another dimension in astrology, in that one can and should direct midpoints in a chart. Solar arc directions rotate the entire chart a degree for a year, as the saying goes, so why not all the midpoints, too? In fact, they add a deep dimension to chart delineations and forecasts.
Currently, Boris Johnson has the Mars/Saturn axis directed to his Pluto. The simplest way to see these directions is to direct the chart and then generate the report for the directed midpoints, then compare it to the natal chart. His directions are below (bigger):
The most significant ones will be those to the Sun, Ascendant and Midheaven, as shown on the chart. The directions shown indicate a double-edged effect. On the one hand, the directions to the Asc/MC (they are on the same 90° axis in his chart) show the attainment of esteem and respect (re: his appointment as PM), along with unions with like-minded people. He was selected to the highest ministerial post in the land, after all.
But then, the directed MC is to his Uranus, showing (from Ebertin), “The tendency to go one’s own way in life, extraordinary or unusual objectives or aims in life, the ability to attain success in life through the display of unusual energy, emotional tensions”. This is also along with a Jup/Plu midpoint (“Fanatical striving for improvements, the quick exploitation of every situation. – A sudden reform, a quick development, an adjustment to new circumstances.”) but then a Ura/Plu midpoint (“A propensity and a flair for unusual, adventurous, mystical and supernatural experiences. – Hyper-sensitive nerves. – Peculiar discoveries.)
What he has is a vision of what he wants, the big desire to get there, but unexpected sudden reforms in his way, and this brings us to the last consideration: Mars/Sat=Plu
“Brutality, the rage or fury of destruction. – The intervening of Higher Power, bodily injury or harm (murder, the death of a great many people).”
We can ignore the last part about murder and the death of a great many people. But Parliamentary sessions have certainly been brutal for him, along with his brother quitting, and there has been rage and fury, directed at him. And before it is all over, there may be the ‘intervention of a higher Power’. He could in theory be removed by the Queen if events really go south in the UK. And then, there is also the idealistic approach that says that the law of the land is the highest authority. That will be on display this week.
The question on everyone’s mind is whether or not the UK will leave the EU on the 31st. But is that really the most important question? What is appearing from all the events of recent months is a revelation for the British people, of the way their governments and leaders have behaved and more to the point, why the British public has been so unhappy with the direction of the nation in recent years. There are doubts now that things will be better for the UK out of the EU.
Recent visits by US leaders have pointed to the preference of the US as to the outcome of Brexit. They want the UK to leave, and to set up a free trade union with the US. If there are concerns about the UK losing its sovereignty to the EU, especially its armed forces, those concerns can be equally directed to the US, who will insist on the UK toeing the line with US interests militarily, and that means against Russia, Iran and China.
Mike Pompeo has already warned the UK over looking at Huawei for its 5G services, as he seeks to reinforce the ‘special relationship’ between the US and UK. The US has already strong-armed Australia and New Zealand over Huawei. Recent visits to the UK by Mike Pence and John Bolton have further served to reinforce US designs on a post-Brexit UK, not that the US would ever interfere in British politics.
Then there is the question of corruption in the City of London post-Brexit, if it takes place. The UK has been named as one of the key hubs in the world for money laundering through its secrecy locations (offshore territories). Apparently organized crime loves the City of London. Without EU oversight, that corruption will go on unabated. Tax avoidance and avoidance of scrutiny over financial dealings was high on the agenda of the people who pushed Brexit.
There is thus quite a lot riding on the outcome of Brexit. There are now open calls for revocation of Art. 50, with the Liberal Democrats, calling for such if they were to win a general election. But latest polling suggests that if there were to be a general election now it would probably result in a hung Parliament. Boris swears he would win such an election, but remember what was stated before about Boris and his natal aspects. That election may come next year with the Saturn/Pluto transit opposite the UK Moon.
Whether or not an election will come before then, before Halloween, is an open question. In relation to that, then, here is the big question: What will be the nature of the sitting government at that point? Will Boris still be there? Instead, will there be a caretaker government? Who can say with certainty the way things are going? If you want to have a peek, the directions to the UK chart are below (bigger):
It looks like still more confusion as to leadership. On the other hand Parliament looks to be in a much more favorable position, probably enjoying a renewal. We’ll leave it that that for now. Everything is still up in the air, but it looks as though the present government will still be on the ropes then, if they remain in power.
