On the 7th of September 2025 there will be a total lunar eclipse. It will be visible over all of Africa, Europe, Asia and Oceania in varying degrees, with the maximum eclipse centered in the Indian Ocean below the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent. It will appear as a blood moon. This will be eclipse #41 of the lunar Saros series 128, a series at its maximum, starting to wane. For more, read on…The eclipse reaches maximum at the same time of the full moon, at 18:09 UTC. The eclipse will rise over Africa and Europe and set in the mid-Pacific. The duration of the eclipse will be 327 minutes overall, with the totality lasting 82 minutes. The strongest eclipse of the series, lasting the longest, was on 26 Jul 1953 at 3Leo12, which also featured the Saturn/Neptune conjunction, then in Libra. The list of eclipses of then and the effects will be of interest:
- The day after the 1953 eclipse the armistice for the Korean War was signed. That war was never ended. The Sun was conjunct Mercury, Mars and Ceres.
- A few days after the 1971 eclipse of that series India signed a 20-year treaty of cooperation and friendship with the Soviet Union. The Sun was conjunct Venus and sextile Uranus. Nine days after that eclipse Nixon announced his new economic plan, which ended the Bretton Woods financial system and took the US off the gold standard. This was the Nixon Shock and the precursor to neoliberal economics, the latter which is coming to an end now.
- The 1989 eclipse of that series saw the inauguration of the European Revolutions of 1989, which in time ended the Marxist-Leninist governments in Eastern Europe and began the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The revolutions picked up speed with the Baltic Way human chain just after the eclipse. Two days after the eclipse the border gate was opened between Hungary and Austria – the ‘Pan-European Picnic’. The Sun was trine Uranus. Following the revolutions, especially when Mars squared the eclipse axis at the end of that year, neoliberal economic shock doctrine was introduced across Eastern Europe, which over the years has led to the illiberal populism we see in Europe today.
- The 2007 eclipse of this series signalled the US Subprime Mortgage Crisis, which started in August, leading to the Great Recession in the following years. The Sun was conjunct Saturn.

Neptune is the lord of this eclipse, since the Moon is not conjunct other planets and is in Pisces. It is a north node eclipse, which points to beginnings and new relationships. The Sun is conjunct the dwarf planet Orcus, a plutino. Orcus has been called the ‘anti-Pluto’, hence its glyph. It is called the anti-Pluto not because of any mythology or meaning, but because its orbit is always in the opposite direction to that of Pluto. They orbit in the same direction, but they are found at opposite points, roughly. This is rather of interest to our considerations here.
Both Pluto and Orcus have a 2:3 orbital resonance with Neptune, meaning that for every two orbits around the sun of either Pluto or Orcus, Neptune makes three orbits. They run is lockstep in that manner, thus there is more than a gravitational association with Neptune: The two planets work in concert with Neptune, in that they work to clear the astral field in astrology. The 2:3 resonance thus categorizes both Orcus and Pluto as plutinos. There are other named plutinos as well – Achlys, Ixion, Huya and Lempo. We might briefly list them with their current positions (28 Aug 2025):
- Pluto: Classical lord of the underworld 1Aq50 ℞
- Orcus: The punisher of broken oaths 16Vi33
- Achlys: The mist, which fogs or blinds mortal eyes (often in death) 13Le00
- Ixion: Blood guilt over an act, madness over defiling one’s soul path. There are a few similarities with the story of Prometheus. 5Cp16
- Huya: There is confusion around this one. Huya is called either a rain god or a hunting and killing god. Given the characteristics of the other plutinos the mythology is more likely related to wandering barren landscapes in search of nourishment. Rains are more characteristic of a quest object, like we would see with Pluto. 23Sg20 ℞
- Lempo: is not a dwarf planet, but rather a trinary hierarchical minor planet system. It’s more modern representation in mythology is that of a male demon, commonly associated with betrayal within intimate relationships. The fire of misdirected passion. 28Ta42
All of the plutinos have similar actions along their specific lines. They act as destroyers and in their actions they are all corrective, clarifying and liberating influences similar to Pluto. They act to remove subconscious and karmic influences to our spiritual development. You can find the locations of these bodies in your own chart from the ephemeris generator at True Node. But that brings us back to the eclipse and what the influence of Orcus will bring to it.
The action of Orcus is disciplinary in nature, keeping one on track if one strays from one’s purpose. Orcus restores us to our mission in life when we stray, as we invariably do at times. What it means in our current situation is not difficult to see: There are two significant wars that need to be ended, both of which are proxy wars for the Western powers. International law needs to be restored and rogue states and actors brought back into line. The Sabian symbol for the solar degree speaks to that idea:

It is a degree that indicates a type of karmic confrontation, according to Dane Rudhyar. The great apes according to esoteric writings are the spawn of early humanity mating with the animals of the time. They did so without knowledge there was anything wrong, since the mind was very feeble and undeveloped in early humanity. At that point all those millions of years ago humanity was barely distinguishable from the animals. The creation of the apes is considered to be an ‘accident’. But coming to the present day, this degree, again according to Rudhyar, represents, “a direct confrontation with the “wild” power of primordial nature within oneself.” In relation to this eclipse, the symbol for the degree relates to recognition of old errors and corrective actions.

In the opposing symbols for this eclipse we have the recognition of primordial forces and old errors, and the power of the imagination as the soul speaks to us in our quiet moments. In so realizing the duality that exists in each of us – the ancient animal past and the power and universal reach of the soul – we gain, “reliance upon one’s inner source of inspiration or guidance,” leading to the realization of “subjective strength.”
The Virgo/Pisces axis in astrology is one of gestation of spiritual potential (Virgo) leading to salvation (Pisces), the growth of the spiritual potency within each of us that leads to full enlightenment and omnipotence. With Orcus being connected with the solar degree we get the idea of a corrective measure that will bring about a reset of our perception of the world and ourselves, which in turn will eventually lead to liberation from the hold of our more ancient instinctive patterns of behaviour. For the wider world that means bringing the bestial scenes we see on our screens every day to an end, with a return to international law and justice for the oppressed. In that vein, the degree of Orcus is worth noting, too:

The peoples of the Islamic world are primed to erupt against their leaders regarding the plight of the Palestinians. The symbol for the degree for Orcus could not be clearer: Eruption, or sudden explosive behavior. The two major conflicts in the world are at their respective crisis points, which must eventuate in a catastrophic collapse of the oppressing forces in the West, Israel and Ukraine. We are looking at, “the explosive energy of long-repressed contents of the subconscious,” referring back to Dane Rudhyar.
Turning to Europe, the peoples of Europe are aghast at what their leadership has brought to the EU bloc and the UK, first from COVID and now the war in Ukraine. European economies are in ruin, with both the UK and France looking at IMF bailouts (which won’t save them). And here is a word to the wise: IMF bailouts require the governments receiving them to implement austerity measures, meaning often savage cuts to social welfare, sell-offs of national assets and so on. This is vulture capitalism at its most brutal. Corrective measures for Europe instead may come in the form of revolutions in the next few years, especially in Western Europe, similar to what we saw in 1989.
In the United States the situation is much the same as in Europe, similar to what we saw in 2007. The economy is shaking, the administration is weak, its policies floundering, a President and First Lady dogged by their past (whether the stories are true or not)…we could go on. And as is often the case with governments in crisis and facing defeat at the polls and seeking distraction from woes at home, a little war would appear to be just the ticket to keep the public onside – perhaps a little skirmish with Venezuela or attacking the Mexican drug cartels (which would also impinge on the Mexican government) instead of addressing demand for drugs at home.
Still with the United States, the midterm election cycle in the US has already started, with the House and the Senate both open for sweeping changes. Opposition factions in the US are pointing the barrel of their collective fire toward a lame duck presidency on 3 Nov 2026. The main corrective measures from this eclipse are slated for the United States, shown by the culmination lines for this eclipse.

The Sun, Mercury and Orcus culmination lines run through the heartland of the United States and Mexico, with the Mars culmination line running through the key nations in South America – Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia and Argentina – where the US has particular interests in stirring up trouble. Trump has it is for the BRICS bloc (Brazil). Bolivia has just elected a neoliberal leader, probably much to the delight of Washington. Argentina is facing large protests against its neoliberal leadership. And Trump is once again threatening Venezuela, after its oil, emeralds and diamonds.
The Pluto line runs directly through the Caucasus region, where the Western powers are seeking to upend the Chinese BRI, the INSTC transport corridor and threatening Iran. Sudan is bisected by that line, as are the Yemenis, Iraqis and Saudis. When we are looking at Pluto in such a case we are looking at internal subterfuge and mischief by the Western powers.
The lunar and nodal culmination line on the other hand runs through India and China, both of who met at the SCO Conference, which in itself is historic, given their past hostilities. Trump has pushed the two nations together by threatening India over Russian oil. The Saturn/Neptune lines run through Central China, Southeast Asia and Indonesia, where there is intensive activity by the West to weaken the region on the one hand, and intensive activity on the other side to integrate the region into a powerful economic bloc, via China’s BRI, ASEAN and the SCO. Indonesia is now a BRICS member as well.

The first Mars activation for this eclipse takes place on 22 March 2026, just after the synodic conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0° of Aries, marking a financial reset. The following activation is on 22 July 2027. There are no activations by outer planets. The solar activations will take place every six months, on 7 Sep and 6 March.
In all, based upon the results from the past eclipses of this series we can expect various sorts of turning points across the world – militarily and economic, primarily. It has come at a time when there is much talk of ceasefires, of rising public dissatisfaction with world leadership, especially in the West and the Middle East/West Asia. At the same time the two regimes (Israel and Ukraine) at the forefront of the world conflicts are facing collapse. Anything can happen in the immediate future, but we can be certain that we are on our way to realignment with international law and a return to basic human ethics. The souls of the world’s nations (humanity) are calling for a just peace and justice under international law.
