The 21 Sep 2025 partial solar eclipse

On the 21^st of September 2025 a partial solar eclipse will take place over the South Pacific. This is the last of three lunations in Virgo, making this also an astrological blue new moon. The eclipse also ushers in the Libra equinox. Kiwis should get a good view of the eclipse, with the maximum view at Invercargill, South Island. If you happen to be in Antarctica at the time the maximum eclipse will be visible at the Mario Zucchelli Station. The first outer contact of the eclipse will take place on the 21^st at 17:51 UTC, with the maximum eclipse at 19:43 UTC off the coast of Antarctica.. The exact new moon will be at 19:54 UTC, with the final contact of the eclipse at 21:55 UTC. The eclipse path traces an arc starting from off the west coast of New Zealand, arcing down over Antarctica and ending south of Cape Horn.

The eclipse will be interesting viewing in New Zealand if the skies are clear because the eclipse will happen at sunrise with a crescent Sun. You may even get to see the devil’s horns. For Kiwis the eclipse is at 7:54 am on the 22^nd local time for the maximum eclipse. The eclipse will begin at 5:51 am. Sunrise at Christchurch is at 6:15 am, roughly. So, you would already see the eclipse forming at sunrise on the 22^nd. If you live on the east coast of the South Island you would see it rise over the mountains a little later.

This eclipse is the 7^th of the solar Saros series 154. Previous eclipses of that series were as follows:

• • 19 Jul 1917: The first eclipse of the series. Lunar lord. The letter that set the Balfour Declaration (the partition of the Middle East) in motion was sent by Lord Rothschild to Lord Balfour. The Balfour Declaration followed in November of that year. Israel was always a bankers’ project.
  • 30 Jul 1935: solar lord. Government of India Act, which granted India some autonomy. The British Empire was slipping.
  • 9 Aug 1953: Pluto lord, “Joe 4”, the 1^st Russian thermonuclear weapon, MAD was reality. There were ‘concerns’ in the US.
  • 20 Aug 1971: Venus lord, rebellion in Bolivia, ANZACs withdraw from Vietnam
  • 31 Aug 1989: Mercury lord, trine a Saturn/Uranus/Neptune conjunction in Capricorn, the start of the Revolutions of 1989 in Eastern Europe. Those were heady times.

The solar Saros series 154 is a long series, taking us half of the way through the Aquarian age. The first total eclipse of the series is in May of 2404, with the final eclipse of the series coming in August of 3179. Thus we have a waxing series which will only increase in strength.

This eclipse is on the final degree of Virgo, the anaretic degree, signifying a fateful turning point and/or finishing of old situations. That is further amplified by this series being a south node type of eclipse, signifying karmic situations and old relationships.

With the previous eclipses, for example, we saw the beginning of the end of British imperialism in India and the Indian subcontinent. The series also featured the breakup of the Ottoman Empire. The British Empire was in its throes of collapsing. With the ’53 eclipse we saw the end of American absolute nuclear dominance with the Russians obtaining the bomb. We also saw the overthrow of Mosaddegh in Iran, starting the rein of the final Shah of Iran. The present eclipse will tie into the ’53 eclipse regarding Iran, with many interesting events to come. The West will make another attempt at regime change there, this time likely to fail.

The ’71 eclipse saw the beginning of the draw-down in Vietnam, with the Western powers having realized they had been defeated. That eclipse coincided closely with the Nixon Shock, which had taken place 5 days before, reintroducing fiat currencies in the West and paving the way for neoliberal economics. The Nixon Shock effectively ended the US involvement in the post-WWII Bretton Woods system. The ’89 eclipse saw the beginning of the end of Soviet influence in Eastern Europe and the fall of communism there, starting with Poland.

The ’07 eclipse saw the West testing Putin’s resolve from his Munich speech earlier that year with the uprising in Georgia the next year, fomented by the CIA, which was triggered by a Mars activation of that eclipse. They found out Putin wasn’t kidding in his Munich speech. That speech reset relations between Russia and NATO. He was ridiculed during his speech. They weren’t laughing after Georgia. The Russian operation in Georgia led to an overhaul of the Russian military after the Russian victory, which boosted their morale, at the same time highlighting the need for the overhaul. We see the effects of that overhaul today.

With that in mind, we begin to analyse the eclipse chart, which is below (bigger):

Although the eclipse is at the last degree of Virgo the first degree of Aries is also involved, marking this as a change in the world view. Neptune and Saturn form the outer points of the midpoint upon which the eclipse point sits. The effect with Neptune is as follows, since Neptune is at the 0° Aries point:

• • Sun/Moon=Neptune: “Shared suffering, mistakes, misunderstandings, illusions or deceptions, the undermining of associations.”

However, it is also a combination that can lead to intuitive insights if properly approached (i.e. free of emotional pulls, attachments and negativity). That combination is at the focal axis of a kite, the base of which is the triangle that has been with us since May of this year – Uranus trine Pluto with the Saturn/Neptune conjunction at the apex – a revolutionary combination, as well as a destructive one if wrongly used. The Saturn/Neptune conjunction is the key there. If one is able to face the hard realities represented by that conjunction then it can become a powerful force for anchoring dreams into reality.

If that combination is wrongly used then it can represent karmic realities coming back to haunt a person, or group. If that is the case, being the apex of that triangle it can manifest as an idea that feels so right that it just has to work, even if surrounding circumstances say otherwise. As such it is a combination that can exhibit as a profound delusion that just keeps on until the reality of one’s situation finally dawns, thereafter resulting in a breakthrough in consciousness. Then progress can be made based on a more realistic view. Having been hovering around the Aries point we have seen many manifestations of both expressions of that triangle, positive and otherwise.

The base of the triangle just described forms one leg of a dissociate Grand Trine, with the lunation forming the triangulating point at the anaretic degree of Virgo, the implication being ‘bringing results to earth’. It is a Grand Trine mostly in air, with the eclipse point being in earth. There is another Grand Trine with the base of the triangle forming a Grand Trine with Mercury, fully an air Grand Trine, this latter one pointing to mental and intuitive revelations. Further, Mercury and Venus are in mutual reception, pointing to diplomatic efforts. The hope with this eclipse is for a positive release from old and hindering conditions, a type of mental reset with new realities being revealed. Nowhere is this more obvious and needed than in the US, Europe and the Middle East,

The US is in the throes of civil unrest, financial woes, a large tech bubble, a government seeking to kill freedom of speech and imposing more draconian measures, seeking to stoke division in the nation. The leadership of the US is operating under many delusions.

This eclipse powerfully affects the United States because the eclipse axis falls across the Meridian axis of the US, affecting the Trump administration at the eclipse point (MC) and the public by reflex at the reaction point (IC) across from the eclipse. The Trump administration is doubling down on support for Israel, stifling criticism of that Zionist entity, threatening to pull the passports of those people who do criticise it and beginning a purge of anyone accused of being a ‘radical leftist’. The US is entering a new era of McCarthyism.

We see similar efforts to double down on suppression of free speech in Europe, especially in the UK, where people are being arrested simply for posting something on social media that a more sensitive type (snowflake) deems to be offensive. Even more damaging is the Russo-phobia that has gripped Europe in recent years, with the EU doubling down on sanctions against Russia that the EU elites know only hurts EU nations, as well as the promise to buy very expensive American weapons of questionable efficacy to send to Ukraine, weapons that the Russians have become very practiced at blowing up.

Now the EU is looking at stealing billions in frozen Russian assets, held in the EU, in order to ‘support Ukraine’. This will enable Ukrainian officials, as well as probably a few in the EU leadership to buy even more expensive overseas real estate for when they have to flee the country. Seizing (stealing) those assets will also serve to destroy any trust in the EU as a trading partner. Seizing those assets is illegal under international law. Russia has said it will respond in kind by seizing European assets. Two can play that game.

On the other side – the inspirational intuitive use of the astrological triangle in question – we are seeing very creative political and geostrategic initiatives in Asia primarily, as a result of the delusional policies of the EU and Washington. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan just signed a comprehensive defence pact as a result of the Israeli attack on Doha. China is setting up gold repositories across the world for the purposes of cross payments in trade.

There are Asian initiatives for introducing an alternative system of world governance as a result of the unpredictability of the American ‘rules-based order’. And China is beginning its first use of the Arctic Sea Route as a result of Poland closing its border with Belarus. Around 90% of China’s overland trade to Europe goes through Poland and Belarus. With Poland closing the border because of a manufactured drone scare and reaction to the Zapad military exercises the Poles have just performed another own-goal, thus affecting all of Western Europe.

As a result of the astrological dynamics of this eclipse some nations will sink still further into delusion, while yet others will see doors open for increased cooperation, bold new initiatives (which the aforementioned triangle represents) and carefully-planned initiatives starting to bear fruit. That brings us back to a consideration of the fuller impact of the Saturn/Neptune conjunction, which is a key feature of this eclipse:

• • + The methodical execution of plans, the slow attainment of success through intense activity and great painstaking effort.
  • – Painful or tormenting emotional inhibitions, undermining circumstances also leading to a state of illness, neuroses or diseases with causes difficult to ascertain.

At 0° of Aries the old medical diagnosis for this conjunction was ‘hysteria’: nervousness, emotional outbursts, and physical issues such as partial paralysis or fainting. Both manifestations above must be taken into account with this eclipse. Mercury is lord of the eclipse, with the eclipse point being in Virgo and conjunct Mercury, even though Mercury is in Libra. Mercury highlights communications, and being in Libra lends energy to and emphasizes diplomatic affairs. We can expect to see some important diplomatic outcomes from this eclipse. But there is a caveat.

There are two other considerations from the chart, both of them concerning Mars. Mars is square to Pluto, signifying possible violence and interventions on the one hand, with sudden breakthroughs diplomatically and militarily on the other hand. The other consideration with Mars is that it sits at the apex of a yod, with Uranus and Neptune at the base. This makes for an unstable situation in areas where tensions are high.

Mars is at the anaretic degree of Libra, in its detriment. Military matters are likely to be unpredictable, though forceful with the square to Pluto. Mars goes into Scorpio the next day, too, which happens to be the Libra equinox. Hence, some comment points to this eclipse being called ‘the equinox eclipse’. Thus, this eclipse ushers in the Libra quarter. The square between Mars and Pluto is exact on the 24^th, two days after the equinox. There is some comment to the effect that Israel may attack Iran again before the end of September. It would be a profoundly ill-thought decision, but the desperation in Tel Aviv is almost palpable. They have a war on seven fronts, and they are losing on every front. This brings us to the nations affected by this eclipse:

Then we come to the culmination lines, which are always of interest. Those lines for this eclipse are shown below (bigger):

When we compare the current eclipse to its companion eclipse on the 7^th of September we get an idea of what to expect. To begin, the type of eclipse is important. For lunar eclipses the Moon line is most important. For the last eclipse that ran through western China and Nepal. There was a color revolution in Nepal two days after the eclipse. And yes, the US (Sun line) was behind it.

The Mars line will often show where military action will flare up and where tensions will be most prevalent, meaning new tensions. The Mars line ran through the center of South America. The US has been trying to start a conflict with Venezuela, with the cover story that they are destroying drug-running boats out of Venezuela, fighting the drug cartels. The Venezuelans aren’t taking the bait. Instead they have mobilized the army and local militias, setting up ‘Fortress Venezuela’. We also saw Bolsonaro in Brazil sentenced to 27 years in prison for his attempted coup against Lula.

The Venus line can show a variety of matters, but for many in the US it manifested as heartbreak and shock with the assassination of Charlie Kirk three days after the eclipse. The Venus line ran through the far western United States.

The Saturn/Neptune line, the conjunction described previously, ran through Siberia, Mongolia, China and Southeast Asia. In the case of the previous eclipse it showed as the slow and careful planning of Russia and China, with the SCO Summit and the signing of the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline. That takes us to the Uranus line, which ran through the Kamchatka Peninsula at the Eastern Economic Forum, the latter which ended pretty much on the eclipse. As a result, China sent its first cargo ship along Russia’s Northern Sea Route, which starts at Vladivostok.

Pluto lines can often indicate treachery. For the pervious eclipse that line ran through the Arabian Peninsula. On the 19^th the Israelis tried to assassinate the Hamas delegation in Doha, Qatar, again with US backing. The attempt failed, but it has caused a decided shift in attitudes toward the US and Israel among the Arab states, with the Saudis just having signed a comprehensive defence agreement with Pakistan. Perhaps this gives us some insight as to what to expect from the culmination lines for this eclipse. Referring to the map above, we have the following:

• Sun/Moon: West Coast of the US – earthquakes come to mind, especially with the Meridian axis of the US involved. There may also be trouble between California and the Trump administration. Boeing (based in Seattle) may be in trouble, too. Further social divisions in the nation are also indicated.
• Mercury: relating to commerce, trade and communications. Runs through the Desert Southwest of the US and the Rockies. The orb of the line also reaches into the Plains States. The tariffs are affecting US farmers badly, having lost soybean sales to China.
• Venus: Probably will not feature much, as it runs through Alaska and Hawaii. Good for tourism, though.
• Mars: the fly-over states of the US and the Gulf of Mexico. Houston might have a problem in hurricane season. That line also affects the whole of Central America, which is where most of the drug trade occurs – not in Venezuela.
• Jupiter: relates to expansion and wealth. Kiwis hit it lucky this time, as does the far east of Russia. For Russia this looks like the grand opening of the Northern Sea Route, plus carry-over from the Eastern Economic Forum.
• Saturn/Neptune: This time considered together. Either weakness and disease or success through careful and patient work. Iran, Pakistan, Central Asia, Afghanistan. War may come there after this eclipse, but at the same time we see the nations in that region consolidating their objectives, partly as a hedge against Western interference and partly to ensure their future prosperity. On both sides – hedging and consolidation – careful planning is of the essence.
• Uranus: Eastern China, the Koreas, the Philippines, eastern Siberia, Western Australia, Indonesia. There is a rich tapestry for change in those areas. BRICS is very active. Little Rocket Man is coming in from the cold. The Philippines will be feeling the pressure from the US to agitate China. Russia and China are going from strength to strength.
• Pluto: This will be most interesting to watch, given the decaying state of politics in the EU. The line will affect the whole of Western Europe and Scandinavia, running directly through the Netherlands, between France and Germany, then south through Algeria, Niger and Nigeria, the latter where the Western powers would love to see some regimes overthrown.

But you may want to have your popcorn out for what happens with politics in Western Europe. Fond ‘o Lyin’ is up for two no-confidence votes. The leaders of the Western European vassals are all on the nose with their respective publics and the US is meddling with the entire lot, seeking to draw the last bits it can out of Europe’s feckless leadership before nationalism sweeps across Europe.

This is one of those eclipses which will have a short lifespan. Saturn will ‘finish it off’ when it transits over the eclipse axis in mid-February next year. At that point we will be seeing a new financial paradigm rapidly forming. It is already taking shape in the BRICS bloc, but it will become operational in all likelihood in the first of next year. Keep it all low and slow with this eclipse. All good things come for those who know how to work with patience.

In all, if you have planets or angles within a few degrees of 0° Aries and Libra your best bet for handling the energies of this eclipse is careful, slow and patient work toward a goal. Magic can happen when that is the case. But we must throw out any tendency toward emotionalism, depression and general frustration. This eclipse can be – and will be for some nations – a life-changing opportunity for the good. Expect old situations to fall by the wayside. This is going to be a most interesting period in the months ahead. If you find that relationships fall apart in the coming days it is probably best to let them go. Seize the day now!
